The testing standards for Dehua white porcelain are mainly based on GB/T 21998-2008 Geographical Indication Products - Dehua White Porcelain. The following are some of the main testing indicators:

Raw Material Requirements

Kaolin:
- SiO₂ content ≤ 68.0%, Fe₂O₃ content ≤ 0.5%, TiO₂ content ≤ 0.1%.
- Fineness requirement: residue after passing through a 250-mesh sieve < 0.5%.
Body Clay:
- SiO₂ content ≤ 73%, Fe₂O₃ content ≤ 0.3%, TiO₂ content ≤ 0.1%.

Appearance Quality

Grade Classification: Products are divided into four grades according to appearance quality: Superior Grade, First Grade, Second Grade, and Qualified Grade.
Glaze Glossiness:
- Glossiness of the glaze for Superior Grade products must be ≥ 85.0.
Color Difference:
- Color difference (△E) for complete sets of products ≤ 1.0.
Defect Evaluation:
- Limits vary for defects such as pores, spots, and cracks. For example:
  - Superior Grade: No pores allowed on visible surfaces; Qualified Grade allows pores with a diameter ≤ 1.0 mm (up to 11 pores).
  - Small-sized Superior Grade products: No spots allowed; Qualified Grade allows spots with a diameter ≤ 3.5 mm (up to 5 spots).
  - Superior Grade: Crack length ≤ 3 mm on non-visible surfaces; Qualified Grade (special-shaped products) allows crack length ≤ 16 mm.

Physical and Chemical Properties

Whiteness:
- Glaze whiteness testing is performed according to QB/T 1503. While there is no strictly unified standard for the whiteness of different types of Dehua white porcelain, high-white porcelain generally refers to porcelain with a whiteness of 82 degrees or above.
Other Properties:
- Dehua white porcelain is characterized by high whiteness, high glossiness, strong thermal stability, high mechanical strength, resistance to temperature, pressure, wear, and corrosion.
- It also features pure and 温润 (warm and smooth) glaze color, high compactness, and good light transmittance.

Manufacturing Process

Raw Material Traceability: Kaolin must be sourced from the protected area of Dehua County.
Firing Temperature: Controlled within the range of 1250–1400°C.
